DATE:  April 2020

The Coronavirus has affected how the whole world operates. For taxes, the due date has been moved from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 (and maybe later) with no penalties or interest if paid by July 15, 2020.

We are still here, still open, and still completing 2019 tax returns. For those of you getting refunds, the sooner you file, the sooner you get your refunds. For those of you who owe, the sooner you have your tax returns prepared, the sooner you can prepare to pay the taxes by July 15th.

You can get your tax information to us by mail, e-mail, or by dropping it off at our office.

Businesses should be applying for the Paycheck Protection Program offered by their bank (backed up by the Federal Reserve) if they have employees. This can be a non-refundable advance from the government under most circumstances. It can be significant and it covers more than just payroll.

Businesses can also file for a low interest, long-term loan from the Small Business Administration with a $10,000. non-repayable disaster advance at www.sba.com.

Self-employed people and laid-off employees can qualify for State unemployment benefits from the NYS Department of Labor at www.labor.ny.gov, or from your state's Department of Labor website.

"We are available by telephone or email every day and encourage you to contact us if you need us.
